Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. In 1992, she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and the arms control. She traveled with President Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate topics such as the Iran Contra controversy.
