Even though she did not go home with "American Idol" name, Kellie Pickler was one among the show's most successful alumni. Kellie Pickler was born the 28th June in 1986 Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. Her parents are Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. She was born to an aged 16-year-old mother. It was a harsh childhood for Pickler as her father battled in addiction with alcohol and substances and her mother had to leave her at the age of two. Morton had custody of her for two years. Pickler said that things were bad. "I recall that my mother and I were together in the same kitchen, and I said to her "I'd rather die than being there with you. I'd like God took me off.' The girl took out a knife and set it down on the counter, and then said, 'Here, do it then.' This was in fourth grade. Of course I never would have acted upon it, but it's done a lot of emotional scarring," she said. Pickler at the time, at the age of 12 was given over to the Morton's parents following the court case. Pickler has cited her grandparents as major influential figures throughout her entire life, was raised by the grandparents. Faye Pickler, the grandmother whom she raised, died from lung cancer in the year 2001. Her grandfather continued to look after Pickler. Pickler earned her high school diploma from North Stanly, located in New London, North Carolina.
